As Good as it Gets
on the move
With their youngest of three children graduating from college last year, Chip and Linda Olsen knew it was a good time to buy a beach house for their future retirement in the Charleston area. Last winter, they took four long weekends to scout the area and
determine what location would be the “right fit” for this active couple. They started north with
Isle of Palms, Wild Dunes, and Sullivan’s Island. They then worked their way south through Folly
Beach and then Kiawah.
“When we drove into Seabrook Island, it was like a transformation occurred within us both. We
instantly relaxed and felt at home. We had found the sense of community we had been looking
for. We simply fell in love with Seabrook.”
After Linda spent the summer renovating their 1979 home on Middle Dam Court, while Chip
traveled back and forth to Baltimore most of the summer, they decided to accelerate their plan
and moved to Seabrook Island full time on November first of last year. When Linda did such
an incredible job renovating their home, they said, almost simultaneously, to each other, “Why
should we wait?”
Linda re-launched her interior design and renovation company, Change of Space Interiors, at
Seabrook and Chip also chose to make a change in his commercial real estate career, working both
the Charlotte and Charleston markets for CBRE.
“As empty nesters, we found ourselves with some increased flexibility in our lifestyle. We both
love to bike, swim, and paddleboard, and Chip is an avid golfer, tennis player and fly fisherman.
This place is as good as it gets!” I-L
