Tuacahn Amphitheater, Ivins, UT
A $25 million family entertainment
complex just outside St. George,
April concerts include Clint Black
and Peter Cetera, while Broadway
musicals include Disney’s Newsies
starting in June.
Zion National Park, Springdale, UT
Zion National Park is an unexpected
and startling oasis set in the southwest Utah desert. The prominent
feature of the 229-square-mile park
is Zion Canyon, carved by the Virgin
River that twists through the valley
floor flanked by 2 ,000-foot Navajo
sandstone monoliths. The half-mile Canyon Overlook Trail offers
remarkable views and the park’s
shuttle system provides a broader
look of Zion’s many wonders.
Bryce Canyon National Park,
Bryce Canyon, UT
Although one of the smallest national parks in the U.S., Bryce Canyon is
nonetheless magnificent as a thick
forest of pinnacle rock formations
called hoodoos jut from the rim of
a high plateau in colors of coral,
cream, and cinnamon. Be sure to
look for the weathered bristlecone
pines, the oldest trees in the world,
some up to 5,000 years of age.

Perhaps you’ve seen the television commercial for Utah tourism touting ;e Mighty 5®, the state’s
;ve stunning national parks: Zion, Bryce Canyon,
Canyonlands, Arches, and Capitol Reef. Well, a
convenient gateway to those parks is the town of
St. George, tucked in the southwest corner of Utah,
where the edge of the Colorado Plateau meets the
Mojave Desert.
St. George is just an hour to Zion, only two hours
to Bryce, and between three and a half and ;ve hours
to the other three parks. And if all that natural allure
weren’t enough, the Grand Canyon in Arizona is
just two and a half hours away. One helpful tip, the
elevation in some parks can stretch to 9,000 feet, so it’s
a good idea to gradually acclimate to the high country
terrain.
Back in St. George, you’ll never want for quality
golf with the area’s 11-course Red Rock Golf Trail.
And the town abounds with superb dining, shopping,
lodging, and entertainment choices.
