Old Town Bluffton
Until about 25 years ago, Bluffton was
a sleepy little village on the banks of
the May River. That all changed with
the development of new retirement and
residential communities in the area, but
the local character has been preserved
in Old Town Bluffton with 30 art galleries
and specialty shops, more than a dozen
casual cafes, and performances at the
May River Theatre.
Begin your Lowcountry tour with a stroll through historic downtown Beaufort and take a break for a relaxing meal at one of its noted restaurants. Just outside of town are moss-draped islands like Dataw and
Callawassie that are surrounded by wetlands and waterways. Heading south, you’ll discover the shops and
galleries of Blu;on in the heart of a fast-growing area of new residential communities. Just across the bridge
are the world-class golf and beach resorts of Hilton Head Island, where you can catch a ferry to explore the
natural wonders of Daufuskie Island.
;e City of Savannah is one of the South’s crown jewels, with parks and squares that come alive with
;owers and foliage in spring, plus a lively riverfront for evening relaxations. ;roughout the year, Savannah
o;ers historic sites and a variety of cultural festivals. And along the river, amid the maritime forests and on
nearby Skidaway Island, you’ll ;nd new and established retirement communities that feature year-round
outdoor activities like golf, ;shing, and kayaking.
