;e Fontenots don’t live an average lifestyle, it’s not at
all surprising that they chose a beyond extra, extraordinary
community in which to build their next home.
Here’s a little background: If you’ve ever seen Iron Man, ;e
Magni;cent Seven, Spiderman 2, and recent movies starring
Denzel Washington, Wesley Snipes, or Jamie Fox, you’ve most
likely “seen” Clay Fontenot. He was the guy in the suit in all of
the Iron Man ;lms, the Spiderman behind the mask in the most
action-packed Spiderman 2 scenes, and the one doing all the
harrowing stunts for several of Hollywood’s top actors.
And, that’s just the beginning of the Fontenots’ exceptional
lifestyle. Given that he is on set the majority of the time, Clay
is rarely at home on his ;ve-acre ranch in Agua Dulce, CA, just
outside of Los Angeles.
His wife and two daughters travel with him, essentially everywhere. Jobs usually span from three to eight months, so the
girls’ “go to school” in the museums, historical streets, and natural surroundings of the cities and towns to which they travel.
Erin and Clay decided early on that the consistency they would
provide their girls was a cohesive family. Locations may change,
but the family stays together.
“If Clay has a job that lasts longer than two weeks, we go,” Erin
said. And, her homeschooling curriculum goes with her.
While “going” is what they’ve come to know and love, Erin and
Clay started considering a di;erent approach to their time o; last
year. ;ey were in search of a place that catered to both the thrill-seeking nature of both Clay and the girls, and the more relaxed,
laid-back pace that Erin seeks, coupled with eco-friendly, mindful luxury.
;ey instantly knew they’d found the place they were looking
for when they visited Kalia Modern Eco Living in Nosara, Costa
Rica. ;eir house there is now currently under construction.
“We have small children, and looking to the future, we care a
lot about our urban footprint. Kalia has all the modern conveniences that we enjoy, and the aesthetics that we like, but very
;ere’s so much to love about where they hope to be semipermanently in ;ve years, but one thing really stands out to Erin.
