Joe also helps enrich lives at Tellico Village. He quickly com-
pleted training as a ;re department ;rst responder, admittedly
“something totally di;erent than I had ever known.” During
assistance calls–only 10% of which actually involve ;re–Joe
discovered that, “a household member might also have larger
medical needs or require maintenance help around the house.”
So Joe is putting his professional background as a university
fundraiser to work, raising money and requesting grant propos-
als to ;nd out how to ;nd people who will enhance the life of
Joe is in three or four di;erent golf groups, and they recently
took a sailing trip with three other Tellico Village couples to
the British Virgin Islands, despite neither of them ever having been on a sailboat before. ;ey ultimately came back from
the islands, and Tellico Village is a better place as a result.
