Vacation Every Day
Gale and Marilyn Biers
At the 12th move in their life together, Gale and Marilyn
Biers retired to New Bern, NC, in 2009 to ;nd happiness like
they hadn’t known before, claiming Carolina Colours is the
best place they have ever lived.
A;er Gale worked in the ;nancial services industry for almost 40 years, they chose this area because they wanted a boat,
and this is a perfect area for boating with access to the Atlantic Ocean and the Neuse River. So for six summers, the Biers
cruised up and down the Neuse River in a 42’ Navigator enjoying life until deciding to sell the boat last year.
“New Bern is a great town. We go in for dinner and walk
around,” said Gale and Marilyn, who also play golf two to three
times a week. He continued, “;ere’s always something to do
A;er ;ying around the country for 35 years with work, Gale
still loves to travel. He has traveled to every state and about
70 countries. He has expanded that love of travel to help cre-
ate tours for other Carolina Colours’ homeowners. He now
spends time researching travel locations and accommodations.
He says, “Most people like to go on trips, but they don’t like to
organize and research.”
;e Biers have organized trips ranging from eight to 15 peo-
ple to France, Scotland, and Africa. Most recently, they took a
group to Poland, Latvia, and Estonia. In January, they will ven-
ture to Vietnam, Cambodia, and ;ailand. And next summer,
they are o; to southern Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Although they have immensely enjoyed all of their trips,
the one to New Zealand was particularly nice. “It was a great
country, very clean. ;e water was absolutely gorgeous. You can
drink out of the river. You could see the ;sh in the water as you
drove over a bridge,” said Gale.
“I haven’t missed work one day. We are on vacation every
day. And, if we’re away from home, it’s double vacation, and if
we’re away on a holiday, it’s triple vacation,” says Gale. For information on visiting Carolina Colours and other
