Myrtle Beach is considered the seaside golf capital of the world.
The city lies in the heart of the Grand
Strand, a 60-mile stretch of beach
along South Carolina’s northern coast.
It is home to championship golf courses, incredible shopping, live-entertain-ment theaters and superb cuisine. The
area sees upward of 10 million visitors
each season.
Golf Digest named Myrtle Beach
“America’s Number One Golf-Home
Community.” Golfers can choose from
a variety of scenic courses, including
ocean-front holes or fairways lined
with giant live oaks. The majority of the
Myrtle Beach area’s golf courses are open
to the public, and many play hostto professional tournaments. These courses
hold the record of 4. 2 million rounds
played, and to top it off the area has as
many as 50 miniature golf courses.
Next to golf, shopping is one of
Myrtle Beach’s main attractions. Malls
anchored by large, well-known depart-
ment stores are sprinkled throughout
the city and up and down the strand.
Myrtle Beach Factory Stores and oth-
er outlet malls offer designer products
at discount prices. Other outdoor
complexes are full of specialty shops,
restaurants and entertainment.
No matter what food you’re craving, you can probably find it in Myrtle
Beach. The city boasts over 1,500 restaurants. Seafood is plentiful and the
warm climate makes outdoor dining a
delight.
There’s environmental education
at Huntington Beach State Park, riv-er-boat cruises along the Intracoastal
Waterway and minor league baseball
action with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.
You can also take a scenic stroll along
the marsh, or a short drive to Little
River or Murrells Inlet.
